Talk and guidance for children and young people with dyslexia and reading difficulties
Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen · Free
In 9th grade, Jesper Sehested made 71 spelling errors out of 92 in a dictation test. Today he is an author with his own business and a higher education degree behind him. On the occasion of Dyslexia Awareness Week, Hovedbiblioteket invites children from middle and upper primary school, as well as their parents, to an afternoon focused on dyslexia and reading difficulties.
Programme - Thursday, 1 October, 17:00-19:00, 4th floor, Krystalgade 15, 1172 Copenhagen K:
• 17:00-17:45: Jesper Sehested shares his story of childhood and adolescence with dyslexia on the library's main stage.
• 17:45-19:00: Individual help and questions in smaller zones on the floor.
Besides Jesper Sehested, you can meet Carsten Milan, reading consultant and teacher specializing in dyslexia, who advises on learning strategies, reading-writing technology, and support options for higher education. Librarian Thomas Boisen from Copenhagen Libraries answers questions about how people with dyslexia can use the library's services.
The event is free but requires a ticket. The target audience is children and young people with dyslexia and reading difficulties in grades 6-9 and their parents - other interested parties are also welcome. The event is part of Hovedbiblioteket's series on children's language, literature and media; see all events at bibliotek.kk.dk/hbbørn
