Melt Banana

Melt-Banana - the Tokyo duo of Yasuko Onuki and Ichiro Agata - have been forging their own path since the 1990s, pulling from noise, hardcore, grindcore, punk, electronics and experimental music in equal measure. The outcome is a sound that resists any single genre label and can only really be called Melt-Banana. Their extensive discography and relentless touring have earned them a near-legendary reputation, reflected in collaborations with John Zorn, Mike Patton, Melvins, Wire and Lou Reed.

Live, Agata's guitar scatters sonic fragments in every direction while Yako's vocals shift between sharp outbursts, rhythmic patterns and unexpectedly melodic passages - all anchored by a razor-edged rhythm section central to the duo's digital approach. Their 2024 album '3+5' carries on the uncompromising artistic direction that has defined them throughout their career.
