Imagine creating your very own book - a book about your ideas, drawings and dreams that expresses who you are. With help from visual designer and graphic artist Sara Khayat, you'll design your own book cover, choose a title and decide what your book is about. You can draw, paint and make collages using the library's discarded magazines and books that are too worn to lend out.

The workshop's theme is freedom of expression and the right to express yourself creatively with your own voice. It is part of the #Banned Books Campaign 2026. Sara Khayat is a Syrian illustrator and children's book author, formerly a free city artist in Gävle, Sweden, and specializes in creative workshops for children. The Free Cities Network is a global network of cities and regions offering temporary protection to authors, artists and journalists persecuted for their work - Copenhagen has been a member since 2010.

For children approximately 7-12 years old. Younger children can bring an adult on the same ticket. Sign up via Billetto, or drop in on the day: 5 tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 10:30.

The event is part of Weekend for Children in Nørrebro - free cultural and movement activities for children and their adults, held on Saturdays and Sundays in sports halls, libraries and cultural venues with support from the Nørrebro Local Committee and the NØBU Foundation. Weekend for Children takes place at Blågårdens Library, Nørrebro Library, Korsgadehallen, Nørrebrohallen, Osramhuset and Støberiet.
