LECTURE: WICKED WITCHES
Rockmuseet, Roskilde · 125 kr. · ≈ 17 €
Wicked Witches in music history - lecture: Tuesday 20 October 2026, 19:00–21:00, Rockmuseet, Roskilde. Tickets cost 125 kr.
What happens when a woman refuses to behave as expected? Throughout music history, the answer has often been the same: she is called a witch. Music educator Anya Poulsen explores the witch's role in music and among the women who have made her a symbol of resistance and freedom - from historical witch hunts to today's stages.
We encounter Stevie Nicks, Yoko Ono, Courtney Love and Florence Welch, among others. Through musical examples, books and historical narratives, Poulsen examines what characterized the witch in the past and how these ideas persist in modern music and popular culture.
The lecture is part of Rockmuseet Goes Dark, running throughout October with a programme about rock's dark sides - punk, heavy, noise and the artists and movements that made darkness part of their expression.
The ticket includes access to the museum's exhibitions from 17:30. Rockmuseet's café is open all evening with drinks and snacks. Wheelchair users and visitors with accessibility needs are encouraged to contact Rockmuseet before the event. Companions with companion cards attend free of charge.
