Forbidden Voices from Afghanistan

Danish-Afghan author Uzma Akbari gives a lecture on the Afghan poetic form landai and the role of literature as resistance against censorship and social control.

Akbari graduated from the Danish Writers' School in 2024 and studies Literary Science at the University of Copenhagen. She has experience translating landai poems and works with the poetic form in her own writing.

The lecture takes place as part of Danish PEN's #ForbiddenBooks campaign 2026, which focuses on censored literature and freedom of expression.
