Will you join us at Heatherhill? We're saving the heather from the wrinkled rose
took place · 12 Sep 2026
Description was written before the event
The invasive wrinkled rose (Rosa rugosa) is spreading across the hills and smothering rare native vegetation - including wild flowers and endangered butterflies that live in the area.
The nature conservation group meets for a couple of hours of shared work, where we pull up the roses by the roots and make space for nature. The group provides tools, and afterwards there is sandwich and beer/water. Bring sturdy work gloves, good shoes and possibly water.
No prior knowledge is necessary - there is guidance on site, and everyone works at their own pace.
Registration by 10 September at the latest.
