Kristian Leth: Hope - A Defence of the Future

Kristian Leth's lecture is based on his book of the same name and draws on data and interviews with international scientists and experts. The argument is straightforward: we should actually be more optimistic now than ever before.

We have always predicted the world's imminent collapse. Today, climate, terrorism and pandemics dominate the media landscape, and optimism has come to be seen as naive - almost outdated. But why do we fear the future so consistently? Is that fear more justified today than in the past, or less? And what does it do to us as human beings when fear becomes the underlying tone of existence?

The lecture is arranged in collaboration with Højskoleforeningen and Viborg Folkeuniversitet and takes place in the Auditorium at Hovedbiblioteket.
