Purpur

Purpur jazz pop ensemble: Friday 29 January 2027, 19:00–23:00, HUSET, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 60–120 kr.

Purpur is a seven-piece orchestra of young women with backgrounds in jazz, pop, and folk. Danish-language lyrics and melodic brass arrangements meet pulsing rhythms, and the large ensemble creates space for tightly arranged music alongside free improvisation from the jazz tradition. The band cultivates a melancholic, Nordic sound with the energy and festiveness found in roots and folk music.

Line-up: Signe Bang Nielsen (vocals, percussion), Lea Haun Lund (vocals/live electronics), Sophie Balund (trumpet/flugelhorn), Elvine Witt Melchiorsen (saxophone/transverse flute), Maria Eppler (piano/vocals), Cille Kjærsgaard Larsen (bass), Sille Frost Pedersen (drums).
