Introduction to Knit Design - hands-on workshop: Saturday 21 November 2026, 10:00–14:00, Islands Brygge Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 150 kr.

A workshop for anyone who wants to design their own sweaters but doesn't know where to start. Knit designer and musician Albert Reinholdt Østergaard from Kontrastrik guides you through a hands-on introduction to knit design, using his own design Salsa Marrón (Brown Sauce) as inspiration - a playful exploration of color. The focus is on simple, effective techniques, not perfection.

You'll gain the fundamental tools and a creative approach to take your first steps toward creating your own design from scratch.

Bring your own: yarn in various colors, geometry triangle, pencils, measuring tape, needles in different sizes - and a sweater you love wearing because the fit is perfect.

About the venue: Islands Brygge Bibliotek

Islands Brygge Bibliotek on Njalsgade is a small public library that has occupied the same spot in the old part of the Islands Brygge neighbourhood since 1966. The single-room space houses both adult and children's sections, with shelves stocked with new titles. Beyond lending, the library runs reading clubs, author events, book cafés and regular children's activities such as storytelling and theatre. Self-service access is available every day 08:00-20:00; a health card is required outside staffed hours.

With his double bass Ælse and a pair of knitting needles, Vendsyssel-born Albert Reinholdt Østergaard has been filling halls across Denmark since 2022 with 'Bær Dine Fejl' - a one-man show that turns jazz, communal singing and knitwear into a celebration of imperfection.
