Grief - When Life Hurts Most — Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus

How do we live with grief when we lose someone we love? And where do we find comfort when longing returns again and again?

Maja O'Connor, professor of psychology at Aarhus University, draws on her research to offer a nuanced perspective on grief as a fundamental emotion that does not disappear, but moves through us - unpredictable and recurring like waves in the North Sea. The lecture traces a line from the old idea of fixed stages one "must go through" to a more flexible understanding that makes room for individual ways of grieving.

Part of the lecture addresses why some people experience a more rigid and disabling grief - described as an eclipse, where loss fills everything - and what can help those who find themselves there.

The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds. The full programme can be found on Hearts & Minds. Venue: Lille Sal.
