The Success of an Asylum Seeker
Rue spent eight years in limbo - forcibly displaced, separated from her family, and struck by profound personal loss - before finally receiving protection. Now she brings her story to the stage.
The event combines Rue's personal account of her migration journey with an academic panel. Rue performs in drag and tells chronologically why the journey began, which asylum centres she lived in, the forced transfers between countries, and the legal decisions along the way. The panel provides expert perspectives throughout.
The panel includes Niels Erik Hansen (human rights lawyer), Clara Dybbroe Viltoft (organizer, lim collective), Sandro Masai (multimedia artist), and Themba Lewis (asylum and human rights expert).
Food and drinks are served. Programme: 18-21 performance and panel, 21-23 DJ and music. The event is supported by Snabslanten.
