Why Does It Get Dark 6+ years / Theatre Magic Amager
Why Does It Get Dark is a Reumert-nominated production (2026) for children and adults that explores darkness as a space for revelations, magic and dreams. It draws on the North American creation myth "Raven Steals the Light" - the story of how Raven managed to bring light back to a world in total darkness.
The myth is retold through magic, visual theatre and music, and the production seeks to create a space where darkness is not merely the absence of light, but a place that gives access to the invisible and a new relationship with reality. The production is for children from 6 years and up.
The production is part of the Theatre Magic festival during the autumn break (week 42), which brings children's theatre to cultural centres and libraries in Østerbro, Vesterbro, Amager, Nørrebro, Vanløse, Valby, Indre By, Brønshøj-Husum, Sydhavnen, Bispebjerg and Tingbjerg.
