Frederik (ages 3-6) / Teatermagi Østerbro

Frederik - musical puppet show for ages 3-6: 12 October – 13 October 2026, Krudttønden, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 40 kr.

"Frederik" is a musical puppet show featuring puppeteer Astrid Kjær, based on Leo Lionni's children's book of the same name. The story follows the mouse Frederik, who doesn't help the other mice gather supplies for winter - instead, he sits dreaming and gazing out over the fields. When winter is at its harshest and the supplies are gone, Frederik performs for the others with what he has collected: stories about colours, sun and scents. Through music, puppets and shadow play, the show explores the value of contributing in different ways - we can't all do the same thing, but together we can do more.

The show is part of the festival "Teatermagi i efterårsferien" (Theatre Magic in the Autumn Break), which in week 42 brings performing arts to cultural centres, libraries and theatres around Copenhagen - this year in Østerbro, Vesterbro, Amager, Nørrebro, Vanløse, Valby, Indre By, Brønshøj-Husum, Sydhavnen and Bispebjerg. The festival is supported by the Augustinus Foundation and Copenhagen's Performing Arts Committee.
