As part of "Free Speech - Democracy at Stændertorvet", Library and Citizen Services Director Christian Lauersen and new Learning & Citizenship Area Manager at Roskilde Libraries, Tobias Mortensen, discuss the public library's role as a shared space for knowledge, source criticism, and free debate - in an age marked by fake news, artificial intelligence, and algorithms.

"Free Speech" is a politically independent event that over two days invites conversation and active participation at Stændertorvet in Roskilde. The focus is on democracy at eye level: you can listen, ask questions, and share your own experiences. The event puts free speech at the centre and creates space for reflection on democracy's development in Denmark over 200 years.

It takes place Friday 18 September 8:15-18:00 and Saturday 19 September 8:15-16:30 at Stændertorvet in Roskilde. Participation is free, and over 30 partners support the event in 2026.
