Duruflé's Requiem opus 9, begun in 1941 and completed in 1947, follows the tradition of the Catholic Requiem Mass - like Fauré's Requiem - and is built on liturgical texts in Latin and Greek. The nine mass movements centre on Pie Jesu with a mezzo-soprano solo. The programme also includes Duruflé's four Gregorian motets a cappella.

Copenhagen Bach Choir, comprising around 35 experienced amateur singers, is conducted by Christian Tophøj Buur. The soloists are Anna Caroline Olesen (mezzo-soprano), Lauritz Jakob Thomsen (baritone), Isak Birkemose (organ) and Juliane B. Soewarta (cello).
