Build Your Own Hybrid Drum - Workshop

Build your own hybrid drum: Sunday 15 November 2026, 10:00–13:00, Krudttønden, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 100 kr.

In this workshop, you build your own hybrid drum from scratch - step by step, using simple tools. Along the way, you'll learn how acoustic sounds can be combined with digital tones via Karplus-Strong physical modelling, and you'll gain a practical understanding of how electronics and code connect with sound.

The workshop begins with a demonstration of the finished drum. Participants then assemble the instrument themselves while the technique is explained - including how a contact microphone captures vibrations. Finally, you test your drum with a small speaker.

The instructor is Casper Preisler, who works with sound technology and artistic sound projects and develops interactive instruments at the intersection of acoustics and digital sound. He holds a master's degree in Sound and Music Computing, is a trained electrical engineer, and has experience in music production, DJing, and dance.
