Tingbjerg Bibliotek\Kulturhus, Copenhagen · Free
Rasmus Daugbjerg on his historical novel: Tuesday 20 October 2026, 19:00–20:30, Tingbjerg Bibliotek\Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
Author Rasmus Daugbjerg discusses his forthcoming novel "Rasmus Nielsøn" and explores his use of folklore and fairy tales in his writing - including how he gives voice to creatures like trolls and mermaids, and lets nature speak.
"Rasmus Nielsøn" is a historical novel freely based on a source from the late 1500s. On a cold December day, the tenant farmer Rasmus Nielsøn walks his field at Besser Rev on Samsø with a heart broken by unhappy love - when the mermaid Ibrant emerges from the sea. She carries a prophecy about the prince soon to be born and later become Christian IV, and she needs a human to bring the message to the king. The novel is published on 13 March 2026.
Rasmus Daugbjerg (born 1993) grew up in Lemvig and studied at both the Swedish writing school Biskops Arnö and the Copenhagen Writing School. His debut novel "Rygtet" (2021) was nominated for the Bodil and Jørgen Munch-Christensen Debut Prize.
Tuesday 20 October, 7 pm - 8:30 pm in Salen. Free entry, but registration via Billetto is required.
