Robots and AI · Solvang Bibliotek, Copenhagen

Robots and AI - lecture by Thomas Bolander: Thursday 19 November 2026, 19:00–20:30, Solvang Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 40 kr.

Thomas Bolander, professor of artificial intelligence, gives a lecture on humanoid robots - their technological workings, possibilities, and societal perspectives. The lecture centres on a fundamental question: what does a humanoid robot need to understand the world well enough to navigate flexibly in human everyday life? What is required for it to empty the dishwasher? And how does it know when it is helping and when it is in the way?

The lecture also addresses broader questions that robots raise: Will they take our jobs? Is the household robot a realistic future scenario? And are humanoid robots even the next major breakthrough after large language models like ChatGPT?

Ethical and societal issues - including robots' impact on the job market and how we interact with each other - are also part of the lecture.

This event is part of Copenhagen Libraries' festival "Vild med videnskab" (Wild about Science), running through October and November with science communication for adults at all Copenhagen Libraries.
