Literary Saturday: Selma Lagerlöf with Tore Leifer · Øbro Jagtvej Bibliotek, Copenhagen

Selma Lagerlöf - literary talk with Tore Leifer: Saturday 3 April 2027, 14:00–16:00, Øbro Jagtvej Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 75 kr.

Selma Lagerlöf is counted among the greatest writers of the Nordic region and became the first woman ever to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909. After working as a schoolteacher, she achieved her major breakthrough with her debut novel Gösta Berlings saga. Masterworks such as Jerusalem and The Wonderful Adventures of Nils unite the Swedish homeland with rich storytelling and profound human insight.

Her life extended far beyond literature: she fought for women's suffrage, helped intellectuals fleeing Nazi Germany, and donated her Nobel gold medal during the Winter War to support Finland.

Tore Leifer is our guide into Lagerlöf's life and literary work. He is an author, editor, and cultural journalist with a long career as a cultural communicator and radio host at DR. He has published a number of cultural history books - including a revised new translation of The Wonderful Adventures of Nils and a biography of Maya archaeologist Frans Blom, Det urolige blod.

Tickets cost 75 kr. and include coffee and cake. The event takes place on the 3rd floor in the study hall. Tickets are non-refundable unless the conditions of the event change.
