Concert: Torben Steno Trio - Urinsyrerock

Just before Christmas, Bjert Gamle Brugs hosted Torben Steno and Pligter Kalder. Now it's Torben Steno Trio's turn with the show Urinsyrerock.

Torben Steno has become an old boy - it's been 40 years since he first worked out his songs. Most weren't good, but some of those that never reached a wider audience are actually worth listening to. With his trio, he sings and entertains with these and other highlights from the path of mediocrity - including the classics "Why Am I Not Dead" and "Three Elderly Women at an Empty Charity Bar in November".

Urinsyrerock is what he calls his original musical cocktail. The setup is classic trio rock: bass, drums, and plenty of electric guitar. At times it sounds a bit like Jimi Hendrix jamming with John Mogensen mixed with a touch of Amanda Lear - very much live. Sitting on a barstool, Steno delivers songs like the socially conscious "Only the Municipality Knows Your Body" and "Cheating at Solitaire" with the humorous flair that has been the old media man's trademark for decades.
