Deepen Your Ceramic Practice with Theme-Based Projects with Manuel Canu
Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen · 3200 kr. · ≈ 428 €
Ceramic Practice with Manuel Canu: 24 November – 9 February 2026, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 3200 kr.
This course is for those who already have a basic ceramics course behind them and want to deepen their practice. Teaching is built around theme-based projects, where each session starts with an overarching creative theme - for example botanical forms, architectural elements, or abstract design - which you interpret in your own work.
Before each class, you prepare inspiration material: sketches, photographs, found objects, or mood boards. Throughout the course, you work on cohesive projects that develop both your technical skills and your personal artistic voice. You will also be introduced to more advanced techniques such as plaster mold making and slip casting.
The course emphasizes a conscious and sustainable working process, where quality and professional development are prioritized over quantity of production. You have 8 kilos of clay available; up to 2 extra kilos can be purchased at the studio. Teaching is tailored to each participant.
The instructor is ceramicist Manuel Canu, who has many years of experience with sculptural ceramics and has exhibited internationally. He currently runs a ceramic studio and gallery in Copenhagen in collaboration with other artists. The course fee covers instruction and materials, and participants are expected to help with cleaning and maintaining the studio.
