How to Survive 40 Days Alone in the Wilderness? - Preparedness Day · Biblioteket i Herning, Herning
Free entry

Niels Ulrik Drescher - 40 Days in the Wilderness: Friday 6 November 2026, 16:00–17:15, Biblioteket i Herning, Herning. Admission is free.

Niels Ulrik Drescher spent 40 days alone in the Finnish wilderness as a participant in the TV programme Alone in the Wilderness. In this lecture, he shares stories about life without everyday comforts - about managing with limited resources and the physical and mental challenges that arise when nature sets the agenda.

He brings concrete tips and tricks as well as objects from the wilderness, and the lecture is accompanied by photos and video clips from his stay. There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the lecture and meet Niels afterwards. The lecture is aimed at both children and adults.

The event is free and requires no ticket. It takes place in the room "Trappen til dybet" at Biblioteket i Herning.

The lecture is part of the thematic collaboration "Sammen om beredskab" (Together on Preparedness), a partnership between DR, Østifterne, Danske Folkeoplysnings Samråd and Bibliotekerne. The collaboration focuses on preparedness - practical, social, mental and cultural - and invites citizens to conversations, practical knowledge and hands-on activities.
