Tuesday Night Brass Band - family concert: Saturday 24 October 2026, 14:00–15:00, Børnekulturhus Ama´r, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 40 kr.
What do beloved Danish children's songs sound like when given a New Orleans brass band twist? The Copenhagen all-star ensemble Tuesday Night Brass Band answers this question with "Brass for Children" - handmade music for the whole family, crafted for both the soul and the dance floor.
The band clearly has a passion for New Orleans brass band music, but equally for Danish children's music traditions. The programme features songs like Pippi Longstocking, The Farmer, and Octopus from Benny's Bath, a ride in Ole's New Automobile to places like Up in Norway, and Calendar-Turner Tage keeping track of everyday life. The band creates its own musical gumbo of jazz, soul, reggae and blues, seasoned with humour and joy of playing.
Tuesday Night Brass Band has existed for 10 years and includes musicians from DR Bigband, SP-Just-Frost, Jazz Five, Wonderbrazz and Brassflavour, who have performed at venues and festivals across the country. On stage: Bjarke Nikolajsen (trumpet and vocals), Johan Bylling Lang (saxophone, clarinet and vocals), Ola Åkerman (trombone and vocals), Henrik Silver (sousaphone, lead vocals and vocals), Esben Duus (snare drum and vocals) and Søren Frost (bass drum and vocals).
