The Reformation Began in Southern Jutland
Ahlmannsparken, BHJ-salen, Gråsten
Lecture by former museum inspector Lennart S. Madsen
Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 PM in the BHJ Hall
How did the Reformation actually reach Denmark, and who came up with the idea? The answer lies in Southern Jutland, where it all started in Haderslev in the summer of 1525. The rest of the story will be told at the lecture.
In collaboration with Kultur i Gråsten and Folkeuniversitetet, it is once again possible to hear from Lennart S. Madsen, former museum inspector at Museum Sønderjylland. He takes the audience back to a turning point when the Catholic Church was challenged by Martin Luther's ideas, and when the young Christian - later Christian III - became a central driving force behind the changes that ended with the Reformation's introduction in Denmark in 1536. Lennart has previously given lectures in Gråsten and now returns with a lecture on the beginning of the Reformation in Southern Jutland.
