User Day 2026
Hovedkassen, Copenhagen · free
User Day 2026 at Stadsarkivet: Thursday 5 November 2026, 14:00–16:45, Hovedkassen, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
User Day 2026 is an afternoon for the City Archives' users, volunteers, friends and partners - everyone who contributes to the archive's collections and daily work. As thanks, the City Archives offers presentations and news from the archive's activities.
Entry is free, but places are limited, so a ticket must be booked via Billetto. The programme provides insight into several aspects of the archive's work: among other things photographer Julie Rønnow's work and her images, which can be seen at www.kbhbilleder.dk, as well as a presentation about war, disasters and preparedness in Copenhagen.
Programme (subject to change):
14.00-14.10: Welcome by City Archivist Mads Neuhard
14.10-15.00: Julie Rønnow and Copenhagen through 5 decades. In autumn 2025, Copenhagen Museum received photographer Julie Rønnow's collection of 150,000 negatives and 6,000 positives, taken between 1962 and 2004. The images all centre on Copenhagen - housing, buildings, infrastructure, citizens and children - and simultaneously show a city that in those years was worn, depopulated and close to bankruptcy. Museum Inspector Trine Halle talks about the period and shows a selection of the photographs.
15.00-15.40: Coffee and cake, standing service.
15.40-16.10: War, disasters and preparedness. Over centuries, citizens and city authorities have had to prepare for wars, fires, sieges, epidemics and other crises - some so serious that the archive's collections themselves were at risk. Archivist Kasper Thorup Scheel Krüger from Copenhagen City Archives talks about preparedness and planning based on the archive's collections.
16.10-16.30: Tour of data entry projects and current news from Copenhagen City Archives.
16.30-16.45: Gothic handwriting and workshops - burial records from Assistens Cemetery by Kim Grundtvig.
16.45: Closing remarks and farewell.
