From Drum to Instrument - De los tambores al instrumento · Candombe Workshop
Asociación Mate y Tango, Copenhagen · 150 kr. · ≈ 20 €
Candombe workshop for musicians: Tuesday 10 November 2026, 15:00–17:00, Asociación Mate y Tango, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 150 kr.
Two Uruguayan musicians, Liber Galloso (saxophone, percussion, composer and instructor with over 20 years of experience) and Paolo Latrónica (guitarist, composer and producer), lead a two-hour workshop in candombe - the Afro-Uruguayan rhythm from Río de la Plata. The workshop is for instrumentalists and demonstrates how candombe's rhythmic and melodic patterns can be used in improvisation, jazz, world music or your own musical style.
The workshop is structured in four parts: an introduction to the historical and cultural background, rhythm exercises and group rhythm games, melodic patterns and their relationship to the drums, and finally a group ensemble with percussion and melodic and harmonic instruments.
The workshop is for intermediate to advanced instrumentalists - both students and professionals. Bring your own instrument; candombe drums and percussion are provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own percussion. Places are limited.
The same evening at 19:00, Liber and Paolo perform a concert at the same venue. Concert tickets are purchased separately. Organizer: Mate y Tango.
