Cabaret Melancolique

Cabaret Melancolique - absurd cabaret: Saturday 12 December 2026, 19:00–22:00, LIVE ART ZINE, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 100 kr.

Cabaret Melancolique returns with a long, eerie evening that celebrates bad taste and embarrassing moments, pushing absurdity as far as possible. The show plays with conventions and leaves the audience in a mix of confusion, wonder, and awkward laughter.

Over the years, the cabaret has featured silent ventriloquism, werewolf kisses, orgasmic volcano women, Scottish flamenco dancers, spiritualist mediums, bearded and gurgling ladies, nearsighted shooting acts, monologues from the underworld, winged eggs, saw-playing ghosts - and much more.

Cabaret Melancolique was originally founded in London in 2001 and is held annually. It is best described as a meeting between gothic horror, Monty Python, and The Muppets. For this edition, the organizers are flying in six artists from London, and both English and Danish performers throw themselves into absurd acts they have always wanted to try but which are normally too embarrassing to include in their regular repertoire.

Arrive on time - if you are late, your seat will be given to someone on the waiting list.
