Pottery Wheel Course - Beginner Throwing with Marianne Krumbach

Pottery wheel throwing - beginner course: Monday 16 November 2026, 11:30–15:30, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 3200 kr.

A course for beginners who have never thrown pottery before, and for those who need more practice with fundamental throwing techniques. You will start with centering, pulling up to a cylinder, and throwing simple forms, then move on to trimming, attaching handles, glazing, and more. You will be introduced to different stoneware clays suitable for throwing and the tools used in the process. Each session ends with thorough cleaning.

Your instructor is Marianne Krumbach, a graduate of the Design School in Kolding. She works from her studio in Copenhagen NV and has spent recent years primarily creating modeled, nature-inspired sculptural objects, though she also works periodically with thrown projects. She has exhibited both in Denmark and abroad. You can see more of her work at www.mariannekrumbach.dk and instagram.com/mariannekrumbach.

The course takes place in the ceramic studios at Vesterbro Library and Cultural Centre. The price covers instruction and materials. All participants are expected to help with cleanup and tidying on equal terms with other studio users, so the workshops remain healthy and clean to work in.
