Advanced Hand-Building Ceramics Course with Manuel Canu · Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen

Advanced Hand-Building Ceramics with Manuel Canu: Tuesday 1 December 2026, 17:00–21:00, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 3200 kr.

This course is for you who have already completed a basic ceramics course and want to deepen your skills further. Teaching is built around theme-based projects, where each session starts with a new creative theme - such as botanical forms, architectural elements, or abstract design, which you interpret in your own work. Before each class, you prepare inspiration material like sketches, photos, found objects, or mood boards, training you to work independently with idea development and design.

Throughout the course, you work on connected projects that sharpen both your technical skills and personal style. You will also be introduced to more advanced techniques such as plaster molds and slip casting. At the same time, there is a focus on conscious and sustainable practice, where materials and energy use are handled thoughtfully, and where professional depth is valued over high production volume. You receive 8 kilos of clay, and a maximum of 2 extra kilos can be purchased at the studio.

The course is for you who have completed a basic course and are ready for the next level. Teaching is tailored individually, so you get guidance that matches your level and ambitions. The instructor is ceramicist Manuel Canu, who has many years of experience with sculptural ceramics and has exhibited internationally. Today he runs a ceramics studio and gallery in Copenhagen together with other artists.

The course takes place in the ceramics studio at Vesterbro Library and Cultural Centre. The course fee covers instruction and materials, and participants are expected to help with cleanup and collectively maintain the studio.
