Sleeping Beauty and Bournonville

Sleeping Beauty and Bournonville ballet: Wednesday 3 February 2027, 19:30, Sønderborg Teater, Sønderborg.

A ballet performance where the tale of Sleeping Beauty meets Danish ballet tradition in the spirit of August Bournonville.

The first act follows Sleeping Beauty from her hundred-year slumber to her awakening by the prince, built around selected highlights leading to a grand wedding. Along the way, the Blue Bird pas de deux showcases its lightness and technical precision, while Puss in Boots adds humour. The act concludes with the grand pas de deux between Sleeping Beauty and the prince, where love is rekindled after a century of sleep.

The second act brings together a divertissement from three of Bournonville's ballets: a pas de deux from Kermesse in Bruges, a pas de sept from A Folk Legend, and the swift Tarantella from Naples.

The performance unites international classical repertoire with Danish ballet tradition.
