Fabric Printing & Pattern Building - From Sketch to Print

Fabric Printing & Pattern Building workshop: 13 November – 15 November 2026, BIBLIOTEKET Rentemestervej, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 1 kr.

A weekend course for those who want to work experimentally and intuitively with fabric printing, pattern building, and visual composition on textiles. The course welcomes both beginners and experienced participants who wish to deepen their understanding of the process.

The course begins with sketching - you can bring your own previous sketches or draw new ones with ink and pen during the workshop. From there, you'll develop print-ready motifs for screen printing and playful pattern composition methods. You'll also be introduced to techniques such as overprinting, monoprint, and various binders, and learn how motifs are transferred to screens, including screen exposure as part of the process.

Teaching takes place at an open and experimental pace with room for both technical exercises and personal expression. You'll learn to develop motifs from sketch to print, work with screen printing and experimental printing methods, build compositions with focus on repetition, rhythm, and scale, and apply basic screen printing and exposure processes - so you can continue working with these techniques at home or in your own practice.

The instructor is Lisa Adele Rogersdotter, a textile designer trained at the Royal Danish Academy and Kolding School of Design. She works with patterns for textiles and wallpaper. More information can be found at www.lisarogersdotter.com.
