Skumringstimen - A Public Reading Session
Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen · Free
Skumringstimen public reading session: Monday 9 November 2026, 19:00–20:00, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
Skumringstimen is a public reading event where people across the Nordic region and the Baltic countries read the same passage from the same book aloud at the same time. The event is part of Nordic Literature Week, which aims to promote public reading, Nordic literature, and the Nordic storytelling tradition.
This year's theme is "Democracy in the North", and the reading features an excerpt from Swedish author Johannes Anyurus's novel "De vil drukne i deres mødres tårer" (They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears). The novel explores how fear can be used as a political tool and how it creates division and mistrust between people. The book won the Swedish literary prize Augustpriset in 2017.
Entry is free, but registration via Billetto is required. Snacks and hot drinks will be served to attendees.
The event takes place at Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus.
