A Child is Born - Christmas Concert with Theatre of Voices: Friday 4 December 2026, 19:30–20:45, Trinitatis Kirke, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 100–150 kr.

This year's Christmas concert is structured as a musical triptych in three columns. Three musical forms are presented, each three times: Christmas carols, organ music, and excerpts from Thomas Tallis' mass Puer Natus (A Child is Born).

The mass disappeared after Tallis' time and remained unknown until three fragments were discovered around 1928. In the years leading up to 1970, musicologists gathered enough material so that all three movements can now be performed - the mass is considered one of Tallis' finest works. The organ music comes from 17th and 18th-century Holland and France, and several pieces use the Puer Natus motif from the mass itself.

Around this are set about twenty European Christmas carols, again divided into three groups. The first group draws on European Christmas carols from several centuries, while the middle group features newer music from Georgia, England, and Estonia. The programme's opening piece is written over the sound of the bells from Speyer Cathedral.
