The Bureau for Timidity
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
The Bureau for Timidity - children's workshop: Wednesday 14 October 2026, 12:30–15:00, Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus. Admission is free.
At the Bureau for Timidity lives a great monster.
All the things we are afraid of, we collect in the monster's mouth - at least then we know where they are. But we also collect the things and people that help us when we are afraid, and we hide them in our pockets so we can have them with us when we need to be a bit braver. Because at some point we have to do something about that monster.
The workshop is open from 12:30 to 15:00, and at 15:00 we smash the monster.
The Bureau for Timidity was created by a secret club that works with art in the form of rituals, happenings and games instead of paintings or music. The club was behind a play exhibition at Aros last summer, and very soon they are opening an exhibition at Silkeborg Kunsthal, where you can contribute yourself - all you need to do is come and repair a biscuit. The event is part of the theme day "Together on Preparedness", which the library is hosting in collaboration with DR, Dansk Folkeoplysnings Samråd and Østifterne. Throughout the day the library will be filled with lectures, activities and conversations about preparedness. Some of the activities require a free ticket - the programme is published on an ongoing basis at aakb.dk and on Facebook.
