Lecture: How do we talk to children and young people about crises and emergency preparedness? · Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus
Free entry

Talking to children about crises and preparedness: Wednesday 14 October 2026, 13:00–13:30, Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus. Admission is free.

Children and young people encounter words like "hybrid warfare", "drones" and "emergency preparedness" in the news, on social media and in conversations with each other. But how do you talk to them about crises without creating more anxiety? This lecture draws on what children and young people themselves tell ChildLine and HØRT about their concerns, and how adults can support them before and during a crisis.

Børns Vilkår shares concrete knowledge about what occupies children and young people regarding war and emergency preparedness, and provides tools to create security through good conversation and familiar frameworks. There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the lecture. The event is held in collaboration with Børns Vilkår.

If you want to secure a place, you must book a free ticket via the link.

The lecture is part of the theme day "Together on Emergency Preparedness", which the library arranges together with DR, Dansk Folkeoplysnings Samråd and Østifterne. Throughout the day, Dokk1 offers lectures, activities and conversations about emergency preparedness, and some of them require a free ticket - the programme is published continuously on aakb.dk and on Facebook.

Information about Dokk1, accessibility for people with disabilities and parking can be found at https://dokk1.dk/planlaeg-dit-besoeg. The lecture takes place in room M2.
