Reading Joy 2026
Grenaa Bibliotek, Grenaa · 150 kr. · ≈ 20 €
This year's Reading Joy 2026 focuses on translated fiction from around the world. Literary translator and cand.mag. Nanna Kalkar will give the evening's lecture on Icelandic novels, including her acclaimed 2024 translation of Halldór Laxness' "Free People", the work that contributed to his Nobel Prize in 1955. She offers an in-depth insight into the translator's craft and presents contemporary Icelandic literature. Throughout her career, Kalkar has translated novels, young adult books, crime fiction, climate books and poetry, and several of her works have been nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize.
After the lecture, the library serves food, and the evening concludes with a book café where librarians recommend translated novels from abroad.
