Nature Detectives at Sydhavnstippen - Tracking the City's Wildlife and Plants · Naturskolen, Copenhagen

Nature Detectives at Sydhavnstippen: Wednesday 21 October 2026, 16:30–17:30, Naturskolen, Copenhagen.

Sydhavnstippen holds more clues than you might expect, and on this tour children and their adults become nature detectives on the case. Everyone receives a detective card with mysteries to solve along the way: What have we found? Who or what left it behind? And how can we actually know? The card's secrets are revealed only once we get started.

The tour engages all the senses. You'll look for things that don't quite fit in, smell and feel something rough, soft, or cold, and listen to sounds you'll then repeat so others can guess which animal made them. No prior knowledge is needed - the answers are found together, and there's room for both those who move quickly and those who prefer to investigate at their own pace. The traces can come from both wild and domestic animals and plants.

Program:
The bonfire is lit at Naturskolen at 4:00 PM. The tour starts at 4:30 PM, and we search for traces. Afterwards we return to the bonfire, where there's s'mores for those who'd like some. The sun sets around 5:45 PM.

Meeting point is Naturskolen, Fragtvej 13, 2450 Copenhagen, where there is also parking nearby. The tour takes place regardless of weather, so dress accordingly and bring an extra layer - however, heavy rain may mean the bonfire has to be cancelled.

Bring your own drinks and napkins, as well as something to write with - a pencil or coloured pencil is useful for making rubbings. A torch or headlamp can also be handy when darkness falls.
