The Most Important Preparedness Is Each Other: Wednesday 14 October 2026, 14:00–14:30, Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus. Admission is free.
How do we mobilize the local community's social infrastructure when crisis strikes?
Preparedness is not just about canned food, batteries, and water. One of the most important resources may already be around us: each other.
Sager der Samler invites you to a half-hour conversation about a new project that has just received funding to get started. The project explores how local communities, meeting places, and citizen initiatives can form a strong social infrastructure when society comes under pressure - and how best to map and explore it. Topics include third spaces, repair skills, analog communication, and informal neighborliness.
Jeppe Spure Nielsen will briefly outline the project's background and ideas, but the conversation is mainly about gathering input from participants: what are we overlooking, what do we already have, and what needs to be explored to understand and strengthen local preparedness? There are not yet answers to everything, and participants' perspectives will help shape the project further.
Everyone is welcome. The host is project leader Jeppe Spure Nielsen from Demokratihuset Sager der Samler.
The event is part of DR's nationwide initiative 'Together on Preparedness' and is carried out in collaboration between Østifterne, DR, Dansk Folkeoplysnings Samråd, and Bibliotekernes Temasamarbejde.
