Musical Lecture with Mathias Hammer

Musical Lecture with Mathias Hammer: Thursday 10 December 2026, 19:00–22:00, Gislev Kirke, Gislev. Tickets cost 200 kr.

On December 10 at 7 p.m., the church officially inaugurates its new sound system with a musical lecture by pianist, music educator, and radio and TV host Mathias Hammer.

The lecture draws on the Højskolesangbogen (Danish Folk High School Songbook), Denmark's best-selling book and a cornerstone of the nation's cultural identity through its lyrics, music, and community-building purpose. A new edition was published in November 2020, and Mathias Hammer served on the committee that selected the songs. He shares the committee's work and discusses the considerations and dilemmas that arise when Denmark's song heritage is renewed.

Throughout the evening, the audience sings together, performing both beloved classics and new hits, with Mathias Hammer at the piano.
