New Year Ritual - sauna, singing, drums: Sunday 10 January 2027, 13:00–17:00, Rört, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 395–550 kr.

A New Year ritual facilitated in English with participants from many countries. The event is built around the warmth of the sauna, the power of voice and drum, and the movement of dance - created in community. Dance, singing, and sauna are for everyone, and you come as you are.

In the sauna, the focus is on body awareness, breathing, silence, and sensing, with the transformative power of voice and fire at the centre. The emphasis is on how humans interact with nature's wisdom, and songs about nature are sung where the community's voice finds space. The sauna is visited 4 times with breaks outside for cold dips, water, and fresh air.

The dance is a fusion of free movement and guided meditative dance, where you move with body awareness and let yourself be led by your own and the collective rhythm - in circles, spirals, standing and lying down, powerfully or gently, alone and together with others. Finally, participants lie in a circle around the drum's sound universe; the drum is described as a primal instrument whose frequency can awaken life force and senses and give strength to New Year intentions.

As a frame, Gabrielle Roth is quoted: "In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: 'When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?'"

Please arrive in the sauna 5 minutes before the start so the ritual can begin on time.

Registration is only via payment through Billetto - see the link in the event. The ticket cannot be refunded or exchanged for another date, but the place can be transferred to a friend if needed.
