Young people, online norms and digital abuse - what do we do as professionals? · MS Action Aid, Globalhagen, Copenhagen

Workshop on digital abuse and young people online: Thursday 22 October 2026, 15:30–18:00, MS Action Aid, Globalhagen, Copenhagen. Admission is free.

As a teacher, educator, social worker or youth worker, you often encounter situations where what young people experience online fills the classroom, club or individual conversation. When is something just a joke, and when does it become harmful? How do you respond to the influence of online communities and influencers, and what do you do as an adult when you're unsure about when and how to intervene?

The workshop is part of the EU-funded SAFE AI project, which develops methods and tools to prevent and address online gender-based violence. The day begins with a panel discussion on young people's digital lives, online norms and harmful stereotypes. Sofie Boye Kromann (RUC) speaks about young people's digital behaviour and bystander effects, Jakob Plannthin Kleofas (AU) about online communities, radicalisation and the manosphere, and Anne Mosegaard Gravholt (KU) about young people's understanding of digital abuse, sharing of intimate images and their views on boundaries, responsibility and legislation.

Afterwards, smaller groups work with concrete situations from professionals' everyday lives: What makes the situation difficult? When and how can you act? And what would make it easier to handle similar situations in the future? Finally, the group discusses what knowledge and tools professionals actually need - input that goes directly into the development of SAFE AI's teaching materials for young people and professionals.

No expertise in AI or social media is required to participate. What is needed is experience with young people and a professional assessment of what works in practice - an afternoon of professional exchange, concrete dilemmas and a shared discussion of what we as adults can do. The project is co-financed by the EU.
