Open Reading Circle: Zadie Smith

The book draws on the real Tichborne case from 1870s England - a trial about identity, fraud, and class. Through the eyes of housekeeper Mrs Touchet, Zadie Smith tells a sharp and witty story about colonialism, race, power, and the narratives we choose to believe.

The discussion will focus on the novel's historical background and the questions it raises about identity, truth, and belonging. You don't need to be a literature expert - the only requirement is that you have read the book and want to share your thoughts. Coffee will be served.

The reading circle is also an excellent preparation for Zadie Smith's visit to the International Author Stage.
