Meet Author Niels Krause-Kjær

The novel "Ude for uden" is fiction rooted in a real travel diary that Niels Krause-Kjær discovered in the Danish National Archives - written by his father and his father's folk high school friends over half a century. The book became the starting point for a story about dreams, disappointments, and a culture in dissolution. The novel won the Golden Laurels 2026 and the Readers' Book Prize 2026 and is nominated for the DR Novel Prize 2026.

On the evening, Krause-Kjær speaks about inheritance, identity, culture, and the shifts that have shaped the Denmark we know today - drawing on personal memories, historical perspectives, and literary storytelling.
