The Lost Land — Nakskov Bibliotek, Nakskov

Journalist and author Niels Krause-Kjær visits Nakskov Library to discuss his novel "The Lost Land", which tells the story of Denmark's transformation across two generations - from rural farming society to urban culture, from province to metropolis.

The novel is fiction, but rooted in a concrete source: a travel journal kept by Krause-Kjær's father and his folk high school friends over half a century, which the author later discovered in the Danish National Archives. The cover shows his own childhood home in Jutland - photographed shortly before it was demolished.

Krause-Kjær previously received The Golden Laurels (2025), The Readers' Book Prize (2026), and Jyllands-Posten's literary prize (2026) for the novel "Outside Without".
