Solar Eclipse

On August 12, 2026, a rare solar eclipse will be visible in Denmark, with the moon covering over 80% of the sun - the strongest eclipse in Denmark until 2048. The eclipse begins at 19:00, peaks around 20:00, and ends at 21:00.

Assens Library and nature guide Christine Røllike Ditlefsen are hosting an event for the occasion. Christine will help children build their own eclipse viewer and share knowledge about the phenomenon. Inside the library, there is a special exhibition about the sun and solar eclipses, and live coverage will be shown on a large screen - so if it's cloudy, you can still follow along.

Free eclipse glasses and a reference book will be distributed to participants, but the number is limited, so bring your own glasses if possible.
