Pottery Wheel Course for Intermediate Learners with Kristine Søe — BRØKs Keramikværksted, Copenhagen

This five-week pottery wheel course is designed for you if you have tried the wheel before and want to refresh and refine your techniques. You will also have the opportunity to work with larger pieces and take on new challenges.

The course covers the fundamentals: clay wedging, centering, pulling up, shaping, and trimming. Along the way, you will be introduced to various decoration techniques, and the course concludes with glazing your finished pieces. Teaching alternates between group demonstrations and individual guidance.

The group has space for seven participants. Three kilos of clay are included in the price - extra clay can be purchased. Glaze and firings are included. Note that there are 14 days between the last two teaching sessions, allowing your pieces to dry and be bisque-fired before glazing.

Teaching sessions (all Wednesdays, 9:30-13:30):
12/8, 19/8, 26/8, 2/9, and 16/9 (glazing) + pickup at an agreed time.
Price: 2,000 kr.

The instructor is ceramicist Kristine Søe, who has many years of experience in wheel-throwing and teaching. She has completed the Craft and Technique foundation course with a focus on wheel-throwing at TEC in Gladsaxe as part of the pottery apprenticeship, holds a degree in art education, and has a master's degree in didactics - material culture from DPU. She teaches courses at evening schools and cultural centres in Copenhagen and Roskilde and works in her own studio primarily with functional stoneware pieces.
