Course: Throw Your Own Teapot

This course is for you if you already have experience with throwing and want to challenge yourself by building a teapot from scratch. Over three sessions, we work with forms, techniques, and construction.

The first session focuses on the teapot body and lid - we sketch and throw forms based on your ideas and group discussions. In the second session, we finish the pieces from the first session, throw the spout, pull the handle, and assemble the parts into a finished teapot. In the third session, we glaze the teapots. If you have a teapot at home, you are welcome to bring it the first session as inspiration for conversations about form, function, and technique.

Session dates: Thursday 13/8 at 17:00-21:00, Monday 17/8 at 17:00-21:00, and Thursday 3/9 at 17:00-20:00 (glazing). Pickup is arranged with the participants. Price: 1,300 kr. excluding materials. Clay is purchased at BRØKs Keramikværksted in connection with the course and is not included in the price - there is an option to choose between different clay types. The group has space for seven participants.

The instructor is ceramicist Kristine Søe, who has many years of experience with throwing and teaching. She has completed the basic course Craft and Technique with a focus on throwing at TEC in Gladsaxe as part of the pottery education, is trained as an art teacher, and holds a cand.pæd. in didactics - material culture from DPU. In her own studio, she primarily works with functional pieces in stoneware.
