Unfinished Perceptions, Ever-Becoming Selves

In Becoming brings together artists from Taiwan and Kazakhstan with backgrounds in design, visual art, indigenous culture, and law. Through drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, and participatory installations, the exhibition opens a dialogue about different ways of seeing and understanding the world - with a focus on constant development rather than fixed forms.

The exhibition does not present works as finished objects. Visitors are invited to contribute a drawing, a word, or a personal reflection as part of a growing collective artwork. Throughout the exhibition period, these contributions gradually become a shared visual trace of human connection. The project also includes a series of blind portrait drawing projects and short cross-cultural interviews documenting encounters between people from different backgrounds.

Participating artists:

Stacey Chao-Hua Huang (curator / Taiwan × Denmark) - curator and multidisciplinary designer with two decades of experience in interior, product, brand, and graphic design. Her work centers on identity, memory, and human connection, inspired by life between Denmark and Taiwan.

Wan-I Lai (Taiwan) - studied and worked in design in the USA after secondary school. Currently works as an interpreter at TSMC and continues her artistic practice with portrait drawings exploring identity.

Ning-Shiuan Huang (Taiwan) - third-year MFA candidate in visual art at Tainan University of Technology. Her mandala-inspired paintings explore inner landscapes, meditation, and the relationship between emotion and visual rhythm.

Zi-Ying Li (Taiwan) - third-year MFA candidate in visual art at Tainan University of Technology. Through woven structures and repeating forms, she reflects on human connection, memory, and the invisible networks that shape our lives.

Yabun R.C. (Taiwan) - Atayal indigenous artist from Taiwan, former stage painter, tattoo artist and surfer.
