Sonic Architecture: SLOW at Brønshøj Water Tower

Ying-Hsueh Chen returns to Brønshøj Vandtårn with a site-specific concert where music emerges spontaneously in dialogue with the space's acoustics. The tower's floating ceiling and massive concrete columns create a reverberation that can linger in the air for up to 15 seconds.

The marimba's wood against concrete produces a deep, layered sound, and the long echoes open up a slow, meditative progression - the silence between the notes is as essential as the notes themselves.

Sonic Architecture: SLOW is a series of musical and performative investigations into architecture's significance for sound. The project is documented in the concert film Mirage (2025). Ying-Hsueh Chen (1983) is a Taiwanese-Danish percussionist and composer, internationally recognized for her approach to new music, improvisation, and composition.
