Plant Relief Workshop with Adam Fenton

Each participant receives a clay frame in which to carve and excavate their motif. It is then cast in plaster as a relief that you take home. Along the way, Adam Fenton talks about his practice and shows examples of his own works - and while the reliefs dry, there is an opportunity for lunch before the finished works are revealed.

The workshop is based on Fenton's series My Name is Adam and I Live in Eden: plaster reliefs portraying plants from friends' and the artist's own home. The series emerged during COVID-19, when Fenton could not work with his performance works, and the immersive work with materials has since become a permanent part of his practice about the personal space.

The personal perspective is also central here: you bring a plant or a plant motif with a special connection or story and are invited initially to share it with the other participants.
